A fraternal meeting with the Pontifical Commission for Latin America


On Tuesday, May 21, Bishop Alfredo Espinoza sdb., together with the delegates of the IEC 2024, visited the Pontifical Commission for Latin America to present the progress of the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress and invite them to participate in the IEC 2024 that will take place in September in Quito.

The secretary of the Pontifical Council for Latin America, Dr. Rodrigo Guerra López welcomed the commission and together with Mons. Humberto González, collaborator of the commission, reaffirmed their interest in participating in the International Eucharistic Congress.

During this dialogue they highlighted the importance of the development of the Congress in Latin America, which returns to our continent after 20 years. Likewise, the CAL was enthusiastic about contributing to the development of this congress and joining in prayer for this Eucharistic meeting.

The participants highlighted the relevance of the development and reception of the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress that gains strength from its theme: Fraternity to Heal the World. This fraternity is approached from a “Latin American point of view, the continent of hope.” This is what Bishop Alfredo Espinoza, SDB, expressed.

Juan Carlos Garzón, general secretary of the IEC 2024; Fr. Corrado Maggioni, president of the Pontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses; Mons. Marcos Pérez, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cuenca; Father Gilbert Jiménez, private secretary of the Archbishop of Quito.
