GOSPEL BOOK, SYMBOL OF THE INTERNATIONAL EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS, TOURED THE DIOCESE OF TULCÁN.
From September 13 to 27, 2023, the Book of the Gospels, symbol of the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress -IEC 2024- toured the Diocese of Tulcán. It has a total of 25 parishes, distributed in 5 pastoral areas. The Book of th Gospels (Evangeliary) also visited local Catholic schools and was present in processions, Eucharistic celebrations, adoration and praise.
On September 12, 2023, in a solemn Eucharist held in the Basilica of the National Vote, in which authorities from the Pontifical Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses and delegates from the Episcopal Conferences of different countries around the world were present. The enthronement of the Gospel was carried out. There, Monsignor Alfredo José Espinoza Mateus, Archbishop of Quito and Primate of Ecuador, presented the symbol of IEC 2024 to Monsignor Carlos Yepes, Bishop of the Diocese of Tulcán and the delegation that accompanied him, that marked the beginning of their tour throughout the country.
The news was received with great joy, faith and devotion by the faithful of Tulcán. “Our call was to all priests, nuns and friars, committed lay people, educational institutions, pastoral groups and to those who feel the call of Jesus through his Word,” said Father Geovany Camacás, delegate of the Congress and coordinator of Pastoral Care. of media in the Diocese of Tulcán, who also commented that they have been days of meeting. “In each of the visits we make the invitation to live the “Fraternity to heal the world” knowing that “you are all brothers” Mt. 23.8 through the encounter with Christ in the Eucharist as the heart of the Church,” he said.
After fourteen days of travel, on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, in a beautiful Eucharist held in the La Concepción Parish, the Diocese of Tulcán delivered the Gospel, symbol of the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress, to the Diocese of Ibarra, as part of the visits that will be carried out in all the ecclesiastical jurisdictions of the country, in addition to the Military Bishopric.
